Three Basic Ways to Alleviate Anxiety

You may be with different conception about anxiety and anxiety disorders. The important thing to note is that all psychological phenomenon lie on a continuum. In this way, we can say that all human beings experience anxiety in some way or another. Sometimes this anxiety has characteristics of adaptability, as it prepares an individual for upcoming threat. When this anxiety moves forward on its continuum, it becomes unhealthy for an individual. In this way, it essential to control your anxiety at initial levels and do not let it go beyond your own limits. It may be difficult to control higher levels of anxiety without any consultation and guidance, but mild anxiety can be controlled in different ways.
I will focus on mild levels of anxiety that an individual faces in routine life. For example, a student may feel anxious before his presentation or a businessman may feel a bit anxious before meeting any new partner and settling deals. Here are the three tips to control your anxiety in such kind of situations.

1. Taking one glass of water can reduce the levels of anxiety or at least makes you able to manage your anxiety at the moment. It is necessary to keep water by your side while your presentations and meetings. Anxiety is the thing that can produce feelings of dehydration in an individual. Dry throat is a common experience of many of us during such situations. This dry throat often leads to stuttering and an inability to talk. Taking water will eliminate this dryness as well as you will be able to focus your attention and thinking about your further steps in a presentation or meeting. It will also distract you from the object that is producing anxiety at that moment.

2. Other than competitive environments, visualizations can be helpful in distracting an individual from anxiety arousing situation. For example, one can think about being with his favorite personality at his favorite place. Some people also use wishful thinking to get rid of anxiety, but this should be used consistently.

3. Sometimes we get anxious because we tend to focus on negativities in our life. Try to look at those things that need our gratefulness. Our breaths are the initial things from where an individual can start. It will surely bring positive results in one's life.
